Austin, TX Law Firm SEO Agency

Table of Contents

The Austin metro area has experienced explosive population growth over the past five years – up to 2,274,000 as of our latest check. With that growth comes more car accidents, divorces, personal injury cases, criminal charges, and other potential cases for lawyers, not to mention more competition in the law firm SEO space.

Majux has broken through the noise for clients in competitive markets like NYC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Dallas, Chicago, Atlanta, and others, and we would love to speak with you about how we can significantly increase your caseload and provide an industry-leading ROI on your marketing investment. Many of our clients get signed cases from our SEO work for under $500 apiece.

Is the Austin Market Oversaturated With “Good” SEO Already?

There is a tremendous amount of competition in Austin, but the city still has roughly 15,000 vehicle accidents each year. 10.5% of the Travis county population is divorced (283,000 people), and in 2021, there were nearly 67,000 “index crimes” reported by the Austin police.

The point – there is lots of work to compete for.

The ROI on Search Engine Optimization in Travis County

Some agencies charge remarkable high fees, making it cost prohibitive for any firm not bringing in 10+ vehicle accident cases per month. At Majux, our fees are reasonable, and we want to set our clients up for an extremely positive ROI as quickly as possible.

Each client situation is unique, but let’s say that you need to invest $35K in high level SEO work before you start to get more calls. 1-2 vehicle accident cases will pay that off, if not provide a positive return. This often happens in just 3-4 months. Once we’ve gotten that degree of visibility, your SEO costs remain fixed, while your monthly caseload continues to compound. That’s the beauty of SEO.

On the flip side, consider Google Ads. The very best campaigns may deliver quality leads for $600-$800 apiece. Assuming a normal conversion rate from lead to case, you may need to spend $2,000-$2,500 per signed case. Those costs will generally remain fixed, since you are paying on a per-click or per-lead basis on Google Ads. Lead gen companies are even more expensive these days.

So all things considered, SEO is the most profitable marketing channel nearly 100% of the time for injury, criminal defense, and even family/estate attorneys. If you have questions about our calculations, please get in touch. We are happy to share examples and deeper information.

Starting From Scratch vs. Optimizing an Existing Website

If You Already Have an Existing Web Presence

We often start client relationships with firms who have had a website for years and have already invested in some SEO, content, or other online marketing. Perhaps the results simply weren’t good, or they were unsatisfied with the level of support they received from their agency.

We can usually find quick wins that lead to more cases within 2-3 months. We look for things like:

    • A bad internal linking hierarchy that we can quickly clean up
    • Glaring technical errors on the website
    • Bad user experience on the website
    • An incorrectly optimized Google Business Profile
    • Page with incorrect, short, or otherwise poor content
    • Lack of backlinks from reputable law firm directories or blogs

We attack these areas (and many others) in the first month, and we can get results going relatively quickly for clients in this situation.

If You Are Starting a Firm or Website From Scratch

To start a new firm in a competitive population center, you must view SEO as an investment. We can build you a world class website, build hundreds of backlinks, and publish many high quality pages of content on your website, but it can still take 7-14 months to start seeing cases from the SEO work. This is normal, and the return is still extremely positive.

There are several reasons for this lag. First, there is something we in the industry refer to as the Google Sandbox. New websites in competitive business categories  are seemingly throttled by the algorithm, and even if you have more content and links than competitors, you will still have to wait 5+ months for Google to really take your site seriously. We’ve seen this time and time again.

Secondly, it takes time to write, optimize, and publish a large network of meaningful pages. We have the best content strategy in the industry (featured by CallRail and the ABA), and we have actual lawyers writing and reviewing your pages and blog posts. But to reach that critical threshold of 30-50 pages on the site, it takes some time.

Thirdly, it takes Google’s algorithm time to crawl, index, and reward you for the blast of backlinking work we do.

There’s much more to it than we can possibly cover on this page, so if you have questions about our process, our fees, our results, or our prognosis on the Austin market, please get in touch. We would be happy to speak with you.
